Casca
Play
Summary
Casca is one of the original conspirators against Caesar — a blunt, sardonic patrician who delivers the news of Caesar's refusal of the crown with dry contempt for the Roman mob's fickleness. He is the first to strike Caesar at the Capitol, plunging his dagger into Caesar's neck before the others follow. Outside his cutting wit as a narrator of public events, Casca is painted as somewhat cowardly and superstitious, badly shaken by the storm and the omens on the night before the assassination.
Notable Quotations
"He fell down in the market-place, and foamed at mouth, and was speechless." *(1.2 — describing Caesar's epileptic fit)*
"Speak, hands, for me!" *(3.1 — as he strikes Caesar first)*
